My printed works are characterized by texture and layers. Printing techniques ground me. The physical labor of printmaking creates a balance in daily life. The hands-on technique becomes part of my work and influences it directly. It offers me opportunities as well as limits. The process is repetitive, but the results are one of a kind.
I decide on shapes and colors as if they were the rules of a game. Within these parameters, I create variations. I am perpetually exploring the possibilities of each technique. For the print frei (2012), which was commissioned for a fashion photo shoot, I created a grey-scale pattern from geometric shapes. I used the traditional technique of letterpress and modified it. The result is a large-scale composition, pieced together from 16 one of a kind prints, which vary in texture and color values.
